The towpath will be extended 6 miles more east to Frankfort Marina in 2005.
(As of 2012, we're still waiting).
The towpath extends miles westward from here for hiking and cycling and there are sections as long as 80 miles and 26 miles between Buffalo and Albany NY
Each year there is a 318 mile long bike trek
along the route of the old tow
path.
